Randy Lopez started his formal music education at the young age of 8 on trumpet through the Detroit Public school system. By the age of 12, Harry Schumann of the DSO, whom headed the brass dept, was also privately tutoring him, Randy then went on to become 1st trumpet, 1st chair.
His musical background at this time was in popular, marching, big band and jazz and then at the age of 15, he went to his first dance and got hit in the chest by something he'd never felt before. It was the electric bass. After talking to the player for what seemed like hours, he'd decided he had found his true musical calling. Doing everything and anything, hook or crook to acquire a bass, his dream was finally moving forward.
Playing with some of the heavy hitters around town in everything from Rock, Funk, R&B, Blues, Old and Modern Country, Celtic and other ethnic and world music to jazz-fusion, Randy paints with many colors on many different musical canvases.
Randy has played with national, international and many local artists such as recording artists Alan Turner, Justine Blazer, The Sax Maniacs, Traci Kennedy, Mark Richardson, Dirty Ester and various other projects. He is extremely versatile in the studio, on stage and beyond.
The Justine Blazer band has shared the stage with Lonestar, Jason Aldean, Bucky Covington, Whiskey Falls, Jason Michael Carroll, Lee Roy Parnell.
Randy is currently touring with Alan Turner and Steel Horse Band, who have been nominated for 6 Detroit music awards and have shared the stage with Kenny Rogers, Glen Campbell, Blackberry Smoke, Lonestar, and others as well as headlining various venues coast to coast.
Quote from Artist:
I recently came back to Genz Benz and couldn’t be happier. I am currently using a Shuttle Max 12.0 and 2 GB212T-UB cabs for larger venues and outdoor gigs, and a Shuttle 6.0-12T and STL-12T extension cab for smaller venues.
The bands are happy with the performance of both these systems, the stage crew is happy not having to move huge heavy cabs, and I am just ecstatic with the look, sound and versatility of these systems.
I’ve used most the big name products on the market, and this is the only one I’ve actually come back to. Don’t get me started on Genz Benz customer service… 2nd to no one!
