While in production rehearsals for Prince & The New Power Generation's Musicology Tour, it became clear to guitarist Mike Scott that his long-time amps of choice were no longer cutting it. During that same time, Mike spotted a stellar review of Genz Benz's 100-watt "El Diablo", the company's bold entry into the world of tube amp heads.
Mike contacted Kaman Music and Jeff Genzler, and arrangements were made to have the El Diablo, along with a companion Genz Benz GB-212 "G-Flex" speaker cabinet, sent to rehearsals for evaluation.
After playing the new setup for only minutes, Mike knew that he'd discovered the perfect tone. Experimentation revealed the amp's versatility and ease of use, with it's wide palette of sounds accessible through the included 5 button footswitch.
The two-channel head also features 100/50 watt output selection, dual speaker jacks with impedance selector, three effects loops, and an Accutronics Long Pan Reverb.
Preamp and power sections utilize 3ea: 12AX7s and 4ea: EL-34s Ruby Tubes, respectively (power section will also accept 6L6s).
The El Diablo and G-Flex have been on the Musicology Tour since show # 1.
