Two years ago, No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont came across a homemade demo circulating around California. The work of Matt Costa made such an
impression that Dumont offered to record more demos for him in his home studio.
Phil Ek (Modest Mouse, The Shins) applied the finishing touches, mixing the twelve tracks that have become Songs We Sing,a winding collection which runs
the stylistic and historic gamut of pop music; hues of ragtime, folk, psychedelia, country, and classical music are cast liberally across the album.
Matt and Tom hit the road on August 1st in support of Songs We Sing. Tom is the bassist in Matt's band, and is playing a Hamer Monaco Bass plugged into a Genz Benz GBE600 bass head, housed in the GB210T-CC
combo/cabinet. He decided to take the Genz setup on tour only after weeks of flawless performances during production rehearsals. Additionally, the backline crew truly appreciates the amp’s road-worthiness and ease of setup and teardown. Tom also plays his Takamine steel-string through Matt’s Shenandoah 200 during the set.
